FF 10 Introduction

Final Fantasy X is my most favorite FF game yet. The storyline is incredible as the graphics are as well. The game features a new leveling system and a unique battle system which allows you to strategically plan ahead with a new turn base system. The story is by far my most favorite part of the game. You start off as a Man/Boy named Tidus. After watching the incredible opening video you are allready faced with battles and suspensfull situations. If you haven't played X yet, then what are you waiting for!?

Battle System

Final Fantasy X featured a new battle system which may have been considered a gamble for Square in many peoples eyes. The battle system was a CTB (Conditional Turn-Based Battle) which allows players to take as much time as they wish to select commands and strategically plan the enemies next move. Also, if you are familiar with "Limit Breaks" they appeared again in FFX, however, they were called "Overdrives". To go with the Overdrive an "Overdrive meter" was introduced to determine when you could use an Overdrive. Through the use of different "Overdrive Modes", the player is allowed to decide the requirements (such as receiving damage, slaying an enemy, or being the only living character on the field) to fill the Overdrive meter.

Also included is a character swap option which allows you to change out one of your members during battle. While you may only have up to three character in battle at once, you may switch them out at any time for another character. For instance, if one of you characters is low on hp, you may switch them with a character not participating at the moment. You may not heal characters outside of the fighting party.

Sphere Grid

FFX also included a unique leveling system. They called it the sphere grid. After a certain number of battles, each character gains a "sphere level" These sphere levels would result in Ability Points. So, instead of learning abilities in order you would be able to choose your abilities instead.

You start out in your pre-determined postion on the Sphere Grid. After gaining a sphere level you can move to another sphere. If you have the correct "sphere" (which is obtained by purchases or enemies item drop) you may active a node you are on, or next to. Once you have done this you will have learned that ability. However, every node requires a specific sphere so you won't be able to unlock any node.
