The first installation in the Kingdom Hearts series was beautiful! It started out on Destiny Islands which Sora, Riku, Kairi, and all their friends visit quite often to either get away, or just goof off. Sora, whom competes with his rival Riku quite often, is our main character. You start off picking up resources needed to complete a raft. This raft is being built by Sora, Riku, and Kairi. Their hopes are to complete it and set sail off into another world, if there are any (I don't know why they thought that would work, but hey it's a game right?). After finally finding all the supplies everyone heads home for the night... and then the storm comes.
On a dark and stormy night, Sora is awakened from his sleep to discover Riku and Kairi must be out on the island. He heads out there with his boat and they are nowhere in sight.
While all this is occuring on Destiny Islands, Court Wizard Donald and Captain Goofy are given instructions from their King (Mickey Mouse) to find and protect 'the key'. They are uncertain what it is, but, they leave williingly in search for it.
Eventually, Sora will meet up with these two and together they will start their search for Riku and Kairi, along with all the answers pertaining to the 'heartless' and all the mysterious events unfolding around them.
